Sometimes it seems really hard to believe that people fall for - please help me by depositing all these millions in your bank account and the latest in our area, you have won the international lottery! SUPER!!
The lottery scam comes in the mail and you have a great shinny certificate with the company located in Florida (so it's safe - right?). So you go and cash this $2,000.00 dollar check. Next you decide that since money is more than the fees you must pay to get your millions you will take a little cash out from the new check.
Well all international checks take days or weeks to clear so by the time the bank realizes that it is fake you now owe money and have given the scammers your bank and routing numbers. Congratulations you are a winner!!
*My parents have actually gotten one of these, the biggest tip off is the grammar errors. They knew it was a scam after reading the letter that was included, but certificate is nice*
Running a business you will see the same scams online each day in your Inbox, but in a new form.I am interested in purchasing your ...... or do you stock ___ we want you to be our supplier... we want to have this shipped internationally..... we want a huge order can we have a sample and the list goes on.
A few clues to junk that email or letter!
*If the email is in your junk folder there is probably a reason you should use filters whenever possible, but be sure to check the emails once a week.
*If they are addressed dear sir or madame; and they claim to be in the US do you ever use those terms? Look for phrases that typically other countries use.
*Spelling and grammar errors they won't be one or two I am talking huge errors that make your second grader laugh! "I am very please to have been contact with you."
*Why would you ever need to send money to get money?*NEVER give your address, email, personal information, or any information! The list goes on and when you think you are getting a great deal check first on the internet and with the local police.
