Heng's Vortex I and Vortex II installation help with photos

When installing a Vortex Fan do not let the unit hang by the wires, damage will occur to the switch.

Vortex I and Vortex II are 12 volt power only
If you are not aware of your power supply please consult a certified electrician before ordering/installing.

1. Remove the handle from the vent.

 2. Remove the screen from the vent.

Be sure to flatten the bottom ones as well.

 4. Locate the gears for the fan, you will need to remove the screws on the front side of the fan for the gear box to move.

5. After the screws have been removed you will pull the gear box out and simply move it to the bottom hole.
Remember to replace your screws.

6. Line the gear box and crank gear up, the gears should fit together easily.

EPDM RV Roofing Now Available Class A Customs Elkhart, Indiana

Class A Customs Available Membranes:
PVC - Smooth Both Sides - Color White on both sides
TPO - Smooth & Frosted Side - Color White on both sides
EPDM - Smooth & Textured Side (texture varies) - Color White on both sides

Membrane Ships Folded Depending on size of kit you will get one or two boxes (glue / membrane)

Membrane Length / Width It is recommended to get a size that is longer / wider than your unit due to possible curve of the roof, raised or lowered areas, removing the excess is much better than not having enough.

Membrane must be installed onto clean wooden surface, do not install on top of existing membrane, glue, etc.
1. Router all vent and accessory openings. Sand all openings, seams, and edges to a smooth finish. Remove all debris off roof with air hose.
2. Apply seam tape (2” minimum width) evenly onto roof and sidewall to cover any sharp edges, it is required that seam tape be used to avoid edge splits. (We do not provide seam tape due to different sized needed)
3. Make sure all screw heads and surfaces are smooth and level throughout, raised screws will snap and puncture membrane and is not covered under warranty.

As soon as possible, while on top of clean unit remove membrane from box, do not drag over edge of unit.
1. Do Not allow membrane to touch ground or dirty surfaces.
2. Do Not allow membrane to touch sharp objects or surfaces, including lifted screw head and edges. 3. Do Not drag the membrane as this can cause punctures and tears which is not covered under warranty.
4. Membrane can be glued either side down. Single-Ply membranes are the same color throughout.

Membrane Installation
1. Cut the membrane to fit roof length with an excess of at least 6” front and rear.
2. “Bed Sheet” the membrane. That is, fold it in half so half of the roof is exposed.
3. Apply adhesive in a wet film thickness of 8-10 mils with a short-napped paint roller to the exposed half of the roof. (1 gal. will cover approximately 160-200 sq ft.) brush can be used but is more difficult. 4. Lay the roof membrane over the wet adhesive, the membrane needs to be adjusted both in width (side to side) and length (front to rear) to ensure the membrane is as flat as possible before the squeegee process. Let surplus material drape over the side of the unit for perimeter finishing.
5. Remove all air pockets and wrinkles with a squeegee (gray neoprene head will not streak), linoleum roller; press firmly working from the center outward toward the edges, do not be on the roof during this time.
6. All wrinkles must be removed at this point for a quality installation. The roof will tighten and conform as the adhesive cures.
7. Repeat steps 2 – 7 for remaining half of roof.
8. Apply putty /butyl tape to the backside of the roof-edge molding. Then while holding the bar, draw surplus material tight with a downward pull, but do not stretch the membrane. Drive screws through molding, membrane, and roof framing members. For best application install molding from center of unit to ends. Alternative method, staple membrane in place using ½” staples 3”-5” apart then apply bar. 9. If roof-edge moldings are not installed on roof during this time membrane will peel-up as drying.
10. Apply putty /butyl tape to the backside of the front and rear termination moldings/caps. Front cap will lay on top of the membrane, membrane should lay on top of the rear cap. Reinstall termination molding using screw type fastener, make sure to screw into sufficient roof structure to prevent lifting. Both edges of the front and rear roof molding must be sealed with caulk/sealant. A minimum 3/8” bead will work for most applications.

Openings & Vents and Appliance Installation
1. Using a utility knife “x” cut all roof openings. Make sure you round all 90-degree corners to eliminate the possibility of running cuts.
2. Surplus material must be secured by staples or screws inside the openings, trim all excess material.
3. Apply putty/butyl tape to all vents and accessories, when installing if any bubbles are noticed in membrane smooth bubble to vent opening and secure vent with screws.
4. Seal around all vents and accessories. Apply sealant to all visible screw heads. There is no need to spread the sealant as you are applying it. A minimum 3/8” bead will work for most applications.

*Butyl tape provides the “Primary Seal” against water infiltration or penetration in these membrane roof assemblies. The lap sealant is a secondary seal. Butyl tape must be compressed 30% to 40% to perform correctly.

Warning: Cancer and reproductive harm. www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

FAQ's

Which side do I install down?
Either side can be installed facing down. Some people think for better traction to install with the textured size facing up and the smooth side down toward the roof (facing glue), some people think for easier cleaning to install the smooth side facing up.

My roof turned pink!
This will happen when your roof is exposed to too much carbon dioxide, you leave the unit indoors or covered too long with no access to fresh air, once the unit is outside the pink will slowly disappear.

Why is the roof wrinkled around all the vents and skylights?
The solvents in the 1021 self-leveling sealant temporarily swell the roofing membrane. In the warmer months it takes 3-5 days to go away & 5-9 in the colder months.

Cleaning The Roof
Be sure to only clean each material with appropriate cleaning materials, we do not sell cleaning products.

Uniseal® Pipe-to-Tank Seals - Class A Customs Water Tanks

Uniseal® Pipe-to-Tank Seals

Uniseal® is the world's best seal, and installing it is a simple process. After cutting a hole in the wall of a tank or other surfaces, the seal is inserted. Then the pipe is coated with a slippery detergent and pushed into the seal. The Du Pont Alcryn® is the key to the liquid-tight seal. When the pipe is pushed through the rubber-like Uniseal® from the outside, the inside Alcryn® wall becomes thin enough to allow the pipe to squeeze through and then forms a liquid-tight seal. The coefficient of friction with the plastic pipe is roughly three times higher than any other material, which allows it to create a better seal than with any other material.

  • Alcryn® melt-processable rubber
  • Long-lasting
  • Resistant to acids, oils, greases, gasoline & sewage
  • Withstands pressure & suction
  • Withstands heat & cold
  • Easy installation
  • Reduced labor & material costs
  • In static conditions, the seal is good up to 65 psi
