Installed Outlet Options

Connecting Pipe & Dump Valve

From the ABS outlet that is installed in the tank run PVC Pipe or ABS Pipe to the outside of the trailer, a dump valve is added to the piping.

Pipe is connected to the ABS installed fitting in the tank with glue. You do not need to tighten the clamp that is on the ABS Fitting, this is used when the ABS fitting is installed into the tank and does not help secure your piping, over-tightening this clamp will damage ABS fitting and tank


Dump Valves

Dump Valves do not hook directly to the ABS fittings, the ABS Outlets are female fittings and the dump valves are also female fittings, you will need a pipe to fit inside of the outlet and dump valve in order to make the connection.

We do not sell glues, example only Oatey 4-fl oz Green PVC/Abs Transition Cement


Inlet & Vent Installation

Class A Customs Waste Water Tanks only come with the ABS outlet installed, the end user will determine where the inlet and vent will need to be placed and install.

Grommets are not food safe so can only be used for Gray or Waste Water use they are available in sizes 1.5" and 3", no adhesives are needed for use.

Uniseal Fittings are food safe and can be used for Fresh, Gray, or Waste Water use, they are available in size .5" to 3", no adhesives are needed for use.

Use correct size hole saw bit in order to drill a hole in the tank, smooth tank edges, and place Grommet or Uniseal in hole. Piping is then placed into fitting with no glues or adhesives necessary.





Mounting & Bracing

Some of the Class A Customs Waste Water Tanks are built with a "lip" on the tank. Tanks can be hung by this lip, it is recommended to make a shelf to slide the tank lip into.
You will need to brace the tank on all sides to prevent movement of the tank.

Brackets or Strap Systems Due to the variety of installations we do not carry brackets or bracing systems. Do Not hang by ratchet strap, this is too thin and will not adequately support tank.




Water Tank Monitor System


RV Monitor Panels allow you to monitor the amount of fluid in your water and waste tanks along with the battery power level. Typically only one monitor panel (2 tank or 3 tank) is needed per vehicle/unit and 4 Probes per tank.

To check fluid levels, press and hold the button designated for the tank and read the level indicators on the panel. Sometimes, residue on the sides of a tank, or water with a low mineral content will give a false reading.
Check the levels occasionally when you are sure of a tank’s contents and compare it to the reading on the monitor panel.

4 Probes per tank needed

3/8" drill bit needed Measure and mark installation points before drilling. After drilling be sure to remove any burs from hole. Do not over-tighten probes.

Tank harnesses included with monitor panel. Customer will need to provide the extra wiring to run from the tank harness to the monitor panel. View wiring diagram for wire gauges ( 20 AWG / 14 AWG)

It is recommended to use plastic NPT male fittings with plastic female NPT fittings to avoid damaging the threads, metal thread fittings can crush the plastic threads.
Very little, if any, pipe thread tape is needed using too much pipe tape will damage the threads. We do not recommend pipe dope as you can not remove the fitting later, if used be sure to use a food safe brand.



What fittings will I need for my plumbing?
This will depend on how you are setting-up your tank and will vary by application, we are not aware of what items you will be needing, please view the Plumbing Examples

Can I install the tank under the trailer?
Tanks can be installed inside or outside of unit, for food vendors verify requirements before purchasing as some areas do not allow tanks to be outside of the unit and others do not allow the tank to be inside of the unit.
Be sure to Sanitize Tank before installing.

All tanks must be braced and secured to prevent any movement of the tank while in transit and to prevent possibility of tank tipping or falling.
Due to the manufacturing process all the tanks especially the larger in size will have a bowing to the walls, when the tank is filled the tank will expand out removing the inward bow, we recommend laying all tanks on a level surface (this can be angled to help with drainage) and bracing the tanks. For larger tanks it is recommended to brace all side walls with plywood or metal, we do not recommend using ratchet straps on the tanks alone as this is a large amount of weight on a thin strip and may cause cutting into the tank. For tanks placed outside it is also recommend to enclose tanks using sheet metal / plywood or some other type of weather proof material to prevent damage from road debris and speed bumps, be sure to check your clearance before ordering.

Multiply (fresh tank size) x 1.15 (1 . 15%) = Tank needed
30 x 1.15 (15%) = 34.50
30 x 1.50 (50%) = 4

NO NSF Logo
Tanks no longer have the NSF logo molded into them due to changes NSF made regarding the use of the NSF logo. The NSF Company does not allow for end users to use the NSF logo unless each item has been inspected and a certification paid for each item, the material that all of our tanks are made from are still the same NSF Certified Material, adding this extra step of certification is an unnecessary step but generates revenues.

The NSF Company does not allow vendors/manufacturers to link to the NSF paperwork unless verified NSF products are being used, our company has been verified and therefore is allowed to link to the NSF Certified Materials on the NSF Website. If needed your inspector can check on this regarding our company and website as we have already provided this information to the NSF company and have been advised on how to correctly use/link to the certification information on our website.

WHAT IS A MOBILE FOOD UNIT?

 Mobile food Unit shall mean a food service establishment that is vehicle-mounted or wheeled and is capable of being readily moveable. 


MOBILE FOOD UNIT CLASSIFICATIONS:

Restricted = individual servings packaged food, non-TCS (time and temperature control for safety) beverages dispensed from protected equipment; packaged TCS milk/milk products; prepackaged individual servings frozen dessert products. Examples: Ice cream trucks, tricycles, push carts, trucks, carts, fixed location/park vendor units.

Unrestricted = prepares/serves open foods on the unit , water systems for handwashing and equipment cleaning, plumbing installed on unit, must report to an approved commissary to fill/drain/flush water tank. Examples: Trailers, buses, trucks, corn roasters, carts, fixed location/park vendor units. 

STARTING YOUR MOBILE FOOD UNIT 

Before you build a mobile food unit yourself, hire a custom builder, remodel, or make a purchase, contact the Bureau of Consumer Health Services, Mobile Food Unit Program at 832-393-5100. 

You or the builder will need to know the requirements for your particular mobile food unit type and intended menu. Having this knowledge will save you money.
